With direct object pronouns, you want to first identify the direct object of the verb. To do this, you want to ask yourself a WHAT (or who) question. For example, on the first sentence: "Mi hermano bebe dos refrescos" - ask yourself "What does my brother drink?" The answer would be "los refrescos". This means that the refrescos are the direct object of the verb. Now you need to replace the named object with the object PRONOUN. Look at the gender and number (i.e. singular or plural) of the noun, and then pair it with the equivalent direct object pronoun. "Los refrescos" are masculine and plural - so you need the masculine, plural direct object pronoun (i.e. "los"). Then you need to move the pronoun and place it BEFORE the conjugated verb (and omit the named noun).

--Let me give you an example to see if you can then apply it to your answers.
Example: Mi amiga toma un cafe. Mi amiga lo toma.
(Translation: My friend drinks a coffee. My friend drinks it.)
--The challenge comes in when the sentence structure gets a bit more complicated. How do you say "My friend wants to drink a coffee. My friend wants to drink it." OR "My friend is drinking a coffee. My friend is drinking it."?

One uses the direct object pronoun (dop) to avoid repetition. The dop replaces the ¨noun¨ that was mentioned. Then, place the dop before the verb, attached to the infinitive form of the verb or attached to the gerund (-ing = -ando, -iendo, yendo forms in Spanish) : A. Identify the noun and substitute with de dop: 1. dos refrescos = los refrescos Mi hermano los bebe. 2. dinero = el dinero (¨el¨ becomes "lo") Nosotros lo recibimos. 3. una manzana = la manzana Quiero comerla 4. ¿Puedes escuchar la música? = la música ¿Puedes escucharla? 5. Estoy estudiando las palabras. Estoy estudiándolas (notice the accent in the gerund ¨estudiándolas¨.11/11/19
