First, Matthew presents Jesus as the King of the Jews

and second, the idea of fulfilment.

Jesus is the King. Not just of the Jews, but should also be the King of my life. He is my authority and as such I should follow and obey Him.

second, the idea of fulfilment. Fulfilment of Old Testament prophecy. Since Genesis, the Bible had said that a Messiah was coming. And now, Matthew boldly proclaims that He has come. This applies to me in that we can know for sure that everything the Bible says is true. God keeps His promises. Always.

I will give one major theme. Matthew was written primarily to reveal Jesus as the Messiah of OT writings. The major theme of Matthew is that Jesus is the promised Messiah, thus fulfilling OT prophecy. This understanding means that Jesus is, in fact, the Son of God. This biblical terminology indicates that Jesus is God.

One of my (online) pastors and friends just offered this, which rings pretty true to me for Jesus’ whole reported teaching: “love the Earth as our home and all of humanity as our family.”
