children master the motor skills of early childhood naturally, as part of their everyday play. The parents must examine where the physical environment in which informal play takes place and how it can affect mastery of complex motor skills. It is recommended that preschoolers engage in at least 60 minutes, and up to several hours, of unstructured physical activity every day. When children have play spaces and equipment appropriate for running, climbing, jumping, and throwing and are encouraged to utilize them and respond appropriately to their challenges; but if the 3 yr old is placed in an inappropriate age level playground they can not acquire the motor skills needed, as age appropriate play areas promote diverse needs to each child.
The parents also must be cogent of the 3 year olds fine motor skills utilized during self dressing, coloring, use of scissors and how they present their own art work through imagination.
Lastly, the social climate the parents render will foster the 3 year old’s motor development. Parents must make the activity fun and not criticize the child, as all these will assist the 3 year old towards going the motor skills required to be athletic.
