If you're moving three units to the left along only the X coordinate, you would subtract 3 from the X coordinate only, so you'd have (3, 9) - (3, 0) or (3 - 3, 9 - 0). Therefore, you'd end up at (0, 9).
If you're moving three units to the left along BOTH coordinates, you would subtract 3 from both the X and Y coordinates you start with, so (3, 9) - (3, 3) or (3 - 3, 9 - 3). Therefore, if you moved three units to theleft along both the X and Y coordinates, you'd end up at (0, 6).
