Educators must hold the ability to ignite each child's diverse interest in learning and promote an environment that enhances one to interact with adults and peers, and also explore the learning materials provided. One must have the competency to engage and promote each early learners towards decision-making, building academic skills, developing socially and emotionally, and becoming part of a classroom community.
Social development is the process of how a child learns to interact with others around them. As the child begins to explore and perceive their individuality, they will also gain skills to communicate with others and also process their actions. Social development most often refers to how a child develops relationships, and also how a child handles conflict with peers.
Social development impacts a child's overall developmental experience. A child’s ability to interact healthily with each around can impact everything from learning new words as a toddler, and how one can resist peer pressure in life. Healthy social development skills assist a child in developing thier language skills, building self-esteem, conflict resolution skills, and developing a better relationship with each in life.
Social development is a complex issue that is constantly changing. Healthy modeling of relationships and positive interactions with each is beneficial for one's child. We must encourage our children to engage with peers and adults to build strong social skills, healthy self-esteem, positive communication skill, and form trusting relationships with friends and family.
