If f(x) = -29 then we can put "-29" in place of "f(x)" wherever we see it, So since f(x) = -x2 - 4 then we can say -29 = -x2 - 4 [now add 4 to each side of the equation to get:
-25 = -x2 [now we can multiply both sides by -1 to get:
25 = x2 [now we can take the square root of both sides
so x = 5 because 52 = 25
But, x can also be -5 because (-5)2 also equals 25.
So the answers are x = 5 and x = -5
