V+D=60

V+.08D=.31*60 The V is 100% vinegar; the D is 8% vinegar; the resulting 60 ml contains 31% vinegar

Subtract the bottom equation from the top

.92D=60(1-.31)=60*.69

D= 60*69/92....you do the arithmetic and then check your work!
