let l = length of garden, w = width of garden
width is 4 meters less than length ==> w = (l-4)
perimeter = 2*(l+w) = 2*(l + (l-4))
perimeter = 72 ==> 72 = 2*(2l-4)
once you solve for l, subtract 4 from it to get w
