Well, without being told the units, there's no way of knowing what units to use.
Y is the vertical axis, x is the horizontal axis. In slope-intercept form we have y= mx + b.
b is the y-intercept. In other words, b is where the line touches y when x=0. m=40 and that is our slope.
So we have a line that intersects the vertical axis at (-8) and the slope (think "rise over run") is 40.
