Hi! My name is Alex and I'm a fourth-year PhD student in Economics at West Virginia University. I was granted a Bachelor's of Science in Economics with a Math Minor from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2018. I recently received a Master's Degree in Economics as part of my progression toward my PhD. Ever since the beginning of my college career, I've had the explicit goal of getting a PhD in Economics and becoming a college professor. I graduated with a 3.96 GPA in my major courses, and am just as passionate about tutoring math, statistics, and game theory as I am about economics.
Helping students understand concepts fundamentally and improve their grades is the most rewarding feeling in the world. I love being able to use my knowledge to make people's lives easier, and to help them get more out of their education. I make sure no student, no matter how much trouble they're having grasping the material, feels judged or inadequate; I know that everyone learns at a different pace and I always enjoy tutoring no matter the comprehension level of the student.
I have over five years of professional tutoring experience, two of which were spent at the Learning Assistance and Resource Center of West Chester University. There, I went through three levels of College Reading and Learning Association Certification, and have been a "Master Certified Tutor" since December of 2017. I have thousands of hours of tutoring experience, most of which is professional and some of which is freelance. I've tutored learners as young as 12 and as old as 50.
As part of my fellowship in the PhD program, I have simultaneously taught multiple large in-person sections of Principles of Microeconomics, and have published research in peer-reviewed academic journals. I have taught and currently teach Intermediate Microeconomics. I also teach the coding/data science and RStudio aspect of a class called Causal Inference.
Feel free to contact me with any questions and I will do my best to get back to you within the hour!

Unflappable, super knowledgeable and patient tutor
Alex was very easy to work with, great communicator, and taught me everything I needed to know to create my Rstudio project. I would not hesitate to recommend him highly.Kristine, 2 lessons with Alexander
This guy is brilliant!
We covered Non-Nash Outcomes, Trembling-Hand, and Mixed Strategies. I really like the recordings that come along with the session, so it's easy to review the material a few times.Susan, 5 lessons with Alexander
Excellent tutor for upper division courses
I have received tutoring from Alexander in two upper division economics courses and his help has been invaluable to me. As a PhD candidate, Alexander has both strong knowledge of high level Econ courses and excellent teaching skills. I have found that he explains complicated concepts and mathematical operations in an easy to understand way. Having worked with other Econ tutors on my Macro Theory course prior to finding Alexander, I found it difficult to find one who knew this material well. I recommend those who need help with both introduction and upper division Econ courses work with Alexander, as he can assist you at any level with ease!Davis, 13 lessons with Alexander

There’s no words to describe how helpful his lesson was! It was only an hour and a half and it was so fruitful! He doesn’t just give you a lesson, but ensures you are moving at a healthy pace and also ensures you are grasping a proper understanding. The Best Economics Tutor on Wyzant
Alexander is the best economics tutor on Wyzant, hands down. I'd go as far as to say he's one of the best tutors, period. Thanks to Alexander's quick thinking, patience, and meticulous attention to detail, I was able to solidify such a firm grasp of economics that I went from being confused at the start of the semester to becoming the top student in both Micro and Macroeconomics. Alexander's instruction was superior to reading the book, attending class, or even attending a study group. Alexander goes right down to business, which is one thing that I highly respect about him. A lot of other tutors will dilly-dally and take forever to explain one topic. Alexander can cover multiple complex concepts back to back with extreme precision and speed, which astonished me the first time I saw him do it. I cannot recommend Alexander any higher; he's fantastic.Abraham, 12 lessons with Alexander
Did not provide proper paths to deriving solutions.
Alexander was a kind tutor. However, he was not able to answer my questions, and the solution he did provide me with turned out to be completely incorrect. It is unfortunate, but this was my experience with him.Rene, 2 lessons with Alexander
