Whenever you have an equation, you always want to try and leave x alone on one side. So first you bring over the _4 to the other side by adding 4. (you always do the opposite of the equation, so that it gets eliminated from 1 side)
-4 + 3x = 2
3x = 6
Now you divide the number next to the x (the coefficient). So you divide both sides by 3.
