I graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University in 2017. I was a Psychology major because I love helping others, understanding them and helping them understand the world around them. In college, I helped tutor my peers in Psychology, Math and Science classes. I also was a Teaching Assistant for my Statistics course for 3 years. In Maria Regina High School, I was a member of the National and Science Honor Societies. I volunteered tutoring my peers for Math and Science courses, such as Biology and Algebra, as well as in my Spanish Honors class. I was also given the Multicultural Award for Outstanding Leadership and Academic Excellence. I've always had a passion for learning and helping others learn. I love helping people understanding and comprehend what is being taught. Everyone is intelligent in their own way, and sometimes they just need someone to help them believe in themselves and show them a different way of learning, so that they can make sense of it. We all have different learning styles and a true teacher, sees her students needs and helps work towards helping them achieve their goals and achieve success.
Currently, I am tutoring a few students in first and second grades, in Math, Science, and homework help, as well as teaching them English. Other students are in fifth grade and I am helping them with their homework, as well as test-taking and Reading Comprehension. Therefore, I offer a wide variety of subjects and services, depending on what I see the student needs.
I love to give students sessions that allow the students to get the most of their time. I offer them help and create my lessons based on what I see they need the most. If they are struggling in another area, I also help them because I truly want to aid in their understanding of the material. Being Billingual also gives me the opportunity to help the student navigate between the English and Spanish worlds. For example, sometimes they just don't understand what is being asked, but know how to complete the work. So,
Larissa has provided examples of their subject expertise by answering 5 questions submitted by students on Wyzant’s Ask an Expert.

Knowledgeable, fun, reliable and patient
Larissa is an excellent tutor. My daughter, who has missed some classes, has understood everything from only her first session with Larissa. She teaches in a fun way and that’s what makes it good. My daughter went to class knowing the lesson and her teacher was surprised because of how much she learned. I definitely recommend Larissa as your tutor.Wanda, 28 lessons with Larissa
Patient and understanding
Larissa is teaching my daughter 4th grade Math. She is very patient. She understands when my child does not get a concept and has a patient way of explaining. Larissa takes the time to connect with my child. My child is very happy after every class. Larissa also takes the time to send me what was taught during the hour. I could be happier having Larissa as a tutor for my child. Thank you!Bhavna, 35 lessons with Larissa

My 14 year old daughter had her first session with Larissa this evening. Larissa was super! After her lesson, my daughter came downstairs with a smile on her face and she looked relieved. She was so stressed with her Honors Spanish class and past tense irregular verb conjugation. Larissa was able to help her enormously and now my daughter feels comfortable. We look forward to our next session with Larissa. Thank you so much!Terie, 9 lessons with Larissa
Knowledgeable and Patient
Larissa was kind to both my son (7) and daughter (9). They had separate sessions where she adeptly addressed their needs emotionally along with helping them with math lessons they were struggling with. My kids loved her and are already asking when their next session will be.Lorna, 31 lessons with Larissa
