When you feel dizzy after a any kind of "poke" from a needle, you are having a vasovagal response. The dizziness you feel is from a drop in blood pressure.

A vasovagal response is possible as the cause of dizziness. Anxiety is also something to be considered. Many people have a needle phobia and the stress leading up to the stick can make people feel dizzy and even experience syncope. Always do fingersticks with your patient sitting down in case they feel faint!!
