John Dalton is credited as the first scientist who studied color blindness. Affected by this condition himself, he had a personal interest in investigating the cause. One of his first published studies was called, "Extraordinary facts relating to the vision of colours." His final experiment was to have an autopsy done on his eyes to test his hypothesis that the condition was caused by the aqueous humor of his eye and filtered out colors. However, his hypothesis was proven false. .
