A general rule of thumb for children is that their attention span is based on their age. For each year of life, they have a 1 minute attention span. 8-9 year olds have about a 8-10 minute attention span. I think their is a market for the book, however cutting the book into two 10 minute sections may make it more marketable. This way, it can be read in two sittings and not all at once.
A children's book that takes 25 minutes to read out loud - is it too long?
I've written a 3rd grade level (8-9 years old) children's book that takes about 25 minutes to read out loud. I read it to a 3rd grade class, with a few posters for illustrations, and it actually seemed to keep their attention. Even the teachers said they liked it.Is there a market for a book like this, or is it just too long?
