How long would you suggest a manuscript be for a novel or book?

I'm working on writing either a novel or book (I haven't quite decided which either) and am wondering how the page count will transfer from 12 size font on an 6.5" x 9" margins to a book/novel readers could hold easily in their hands. So far I have about 36 pages of text, not including acknowledgements and a note for readers, with much left to write.

Usually a novella is under 100 or 200, but a book is more than that, at least, a novel is. Children's books are much shorter, but juvenille fiction is usually over two hundred pages or more.
