There are a variety of different poem types, I would say 50+ It sounds like you want to write a Free Verse type of poem. It does not have to rhyme. It can be more of a diary style, or short haikus. Even though the poem does not rhyme, you will still need a form or meter to make your poem flow. However, I recommend you pick a topic/subject and just write what comes to mind. You can go back later. Also see if you can attend a Poetry Slam event in your area to see what others are doing. Free Verse poems can be fun because you get to play around with them a bit more.
