" Veena paid 1/3 as much as Tanya paid" is V = (1/3)T

Extra information: A + V + T = 1 [total; 100%; or all of the bill]

(2/3)V + V + 3V = 1 from V=(1/3)T, we know T = 3V

2V + 3V + 9V = 3 [multiply all by LCD of 3]
