Keep all writing clear, simple and direct. That is the main message of The Elements of Style. Having worked with Asian ESL/ELD students for over two decades, I discovered that many--if not most--of their errors occurred when they OVER-WROTE. Sad but true. Keep it simple, say what you must, and then move on.
