We Got This! Learning with Confidence!
This is an excellent question!
Language is a fluid thing. Meaning that it changes over time. When you think about it, people do not speak the same today as they did 30 years ago. Why is that? Certain words or phrases fall out of style and others come in. So, language evolves based off of how people speak. This i why the dictionary is constantly being updated. Furthermore, the meaning of different words change over time as well. For example, 80 years ago if you said that someone was sick, that meant that they were literally sick. However, if you were to say that same thing nowadays, it could just mean that they are a really cool person. This is such a cool thing because it means that the speakers of a language determine what the language becomes. So, during Shakespeare's time they spoke more similar to his style (however Shakespeare himself changed a lot of language with his plays) but a lot of time has passed since then so language has changed as well.
I hope that helped you and please feel free to reach out with any other questions.
All the best
