How long are designers expected to keep client files?
A client recently emailed me asking for the source files from a project I did for them two years ago. I don't have the source files since it was such a long time ago and the client said it was very unprofessional and strange to not keep the source files for all the projects I do.Is there a customary length of time that you should be expected to keep source files? Should you keep all your source files for projects and never get rid of them?
You keep them as long as they are your client. OR If your relationship ends I'd hang on to them for a year. BUT BUT BUT I would make sure you send them the files that they paid for and then it is their problem to keep them.
