How did/are you learn(ing) farsi?

So many people on this subreddit seem to be asking for translation help it seems that you all are learning it as a 2nd or 3rd language. So how are you learning Farsi? Any interesting ways or cool ideas you have about studying it :D

There are a lot of free online resources. I like Youtube because it is almost like attending a lecture. For vocabulary studies, I really like Memrise under the Persian farsi basic course word list. It all starts with learning the alphabet and the sounds, though. Especially for self study, it is best to start small and set reasonable, achievable goals. For pacing- think maybe 2 weeks, at least an hour per day, on the alphabet (pronouncing and writing) and then start looking at basic 2-4 letter words. You will also want to purchase a dictionary. Though google translate is convenient, it is often inaccurate.
