How do you prepare 250 ml of 1M NaCl solution from a solid? NaCl has MW= 58.4 g/mole

Actual you should add sufficient water to 13.6 g of NaCl to make a final volume of 250 ml. Do not just add 13.6 g of NaCl to 250 ml as doing so will result in a volume greater than 250 ml.

Thank you for this observation. However, I was providing a simplified answer. I was assuming the student would follow lab protocol in making solutions. This would be adding the NaCl in a glass container, add 100 ml of water, stir the solution, and add the water up to 250 mL.
