Lauren is at a friend’s home that is several  miles from her home. She starts walking at a constant rate in a straight line  toward her home. The expression gives the distance, in miles, that Lauren is  from her home after t hours.

The expression given -2t+10 is the distance she is from home...she will be home when that distance is 0 so -2t+10=0 solve for t gives t=5 hours assuming the coefficient of t is in miles/hour.
