If I understand your question correctly, you would like to read English with the intent to speak more fluently, and also to read English to do well on exams.
If your intent is to speak more fluently, then select conversational reading material. For example, some people write in a conversational tone. Those would be good examples. Another way to improve your speaking fluency through reading is to select a commencement speech (for example, by Steve Jobs, Oprah, or any public figure.) Then look up the text for their speech. Watch the video on YouTube at the same time you read the text.
As for the exam questions. Would you please say more about the aspect that challenge you the most when taking exams?
