What we consider to be "living in the past" is very subjective! Since you and I are both on this website, let's assume that for us, the present means we are embracing new technology and following mainstream American Culture. For many people around the world, living in the present looks very different. Some people live in the present without running water or electricity because it is not available where they live. Some people may have access to a cellphone, but not a landline or wifi. These people are using modern technology like you and I, but choose not to, or are unable to use other modern technologies. Other communities prefer to live in nearly the same ways that their ancestors did even though they may have access to all of the latest technology. Amish people live, dress, work, eat, and practice religion in mostly the same way their families would have one hundred years ago due to their religious beliefs. It's all a matter of perspective!
