This statement is false; there is no clear evidence of this species hunting large game. They definitely would have scavenged an already dead large game animal carcass killed by a predator, but did not have the means to bring down such large game. The first clear evidence of large game hunting is associated with H. heidelbergensis in the form of weaponry. H. heidelbergensis created stone projectile points and we've even found a couple of 6-ft long wooden spears associated with horse bones.
