If A = amount that the boys sold, then the girls sold 3A. The total is 4A
So, the the girls sold 3A/4A or 3/4 of the total so the girls are responsibility for .75 x 180 = $135 of the $180.

One thing that may confuse readers is that we don't really need to know how many girls or boys were involved in this sale to get an answer. Just let G = how much profit the girls turned, and B = the boys profit. We know the total is G + B = 180. And we know G = 3B. Put what we know together and 4B=180. The boys turned $45. The girls turned three times that so G = $135.05/28/19
