First, convert the 100 meters to miles. You do this by multiplying the 100 meters by units of 1, with the numerator being the units you want to convert to, and the denominator being the units you are converting from. (The key is to make sure the units cancel each other out!)
100m * (3.281 ft / 1 m) * ( 1 mi / 5280 ft) = 0.062140152 miles
(using a converter, 100m = 0.062137, so we did it correctly with the given values)
Next we find out how long it would take to complete the 26 mi marathon by dividing the distance by the rate
(26 mi) / (0.062140152 miles / 9.87 sec) = 4129.697 seconds
Alternative Method :
You can also use the converting method where 9.87 sec = 0.062140152 miles
26 mi * (9.87 sec / 0.062140152 miles) = 4129.697 seconds
4129.697 -> 4130 seconds
4130 sec * (1 min / 60 sec) * (1 hr / 60 min) = 1.147 hours
Thus we know "1 hour" is the number of hours
.147 hr * (60 min / 1 hour) = 8.83333 min
Thus we know "8 min" is the number of minutes
.8333 min * (60 sec / 1 min) = 50 seconds
Thus we know "50 seconds" is the number of seconds
Final answer:
1 hour
8 minutes
50 seconds
ROUNDING can change the answer slightly. I used the products throughout this example instead of writing in the numbers I wrote up above. Keep that in mind.

ALSO there is an alternative method of computing that allows you to skip a few steps. This is the conversion method with setting the following as a given : 9.87 sec = 100 m
(9.87 sec / 100 m) * (1 m / 3.281 ft) * (5280 ft / 1 mi) * (26 mi) = 4129.697 seconds
