Does DNA react in all of the ways most other acids do?

As I understand it from my basic chemistry, there are some fundamental reactions that exist between any acid and other substances for example acid-base reactions that form a salt, and the existence of a state of equilibrium in water.Do these reactions and equilibria occur to DNA (or, for that matter, RNA), which has only ever been described to me as an 'acid', and does this affect the processes DNA goes through, like replication and transcription?

The reactions that take place with DNA and RNA are still governed by the same acid-base principles taught in a freshman chemistry course. However, these reactions are orchestrated by proteins that, in a sense, control their chemistry to allow for the needed reactions in replication, transcription, and the other biologic reactions that make life possible.
