Neuroplasticity refers to the idea that our brain regions are not as localized as we once thought. In other words, specific regions of the brain do not necessarily carry our specific functions. Additionally, some regions of the brain can take on functions of another region if there is atrophy (e.g., damage). So, the brain is very dynamic and specific regions are not necessarily responsibly for discrete functions. The brain can change throughout life!
