Learning any language requires a lot of patience with yourself and enthusiasm. If you don't posses those, it will be very difficult for you to learn any language let alone Farsi. In terms of Farsi in particular some good motivators could be dating a Persian person, so as to understand their language and culture. Another one would be being interested in the culture yourself and wanting to learn the deep and thousand years worth of culture and poetry from the root of it not from any translations. There are many more of these motivators, but the question is if you have got them. :)
Benefits of learning Farsi as a second language
I am curious as to any potential benefits one might gain from learning Farsi specifically. I understand benefits from learning a second language as a whole but am curious about anything specific to Farsi itself. I am an American programmer who doesn't use anything but English for work.
