The Syrian Desert is exactly what it's called. It has been a relatively unimportant area for most of human history, since, being a desert, it was relatively uninhabitable by a large amount of humans. As far as I am aware, aside from the names of local towns within the Syrian Desert, there is no other name for it. I am not an expert on the middle east specifically though, so perhaps someone else will have a better answer, but I'm pretty sure that the Syrian Desert is the term you're looking for.
