The Spanish translation of wife is "esposa" but it depends. "Esposa" is used when you are legally married to that woman, but if you are not married "mi mujer" "mujer" is used to refer to that person. There is nothing offensive with calling her "mi mujer" in most of Latin American countries as far as I know, neither in Spain. I have been in Spain many times and they are Ok with that. "Mi mujer" equals to what you say "my woman", "my lady"
