Some of the obvious advantages are that you and/or your tutor do not have to travel anywhere. This usually means the tutor can charge a lower fee for lessons. Also, it is usually easier to schedule online lessons, since time is not spent on travel. Changing days or times is easier for online lessons as well. No need to tidy up the house before a tutor visits, too.
However, I also think there are learning benefits as well. I find that during online lessons, my students find it easier to stay focused on the task and not be distracted by other things. It is easier for a tutor and student to look at the same material together at the same time, and it is easier for the tutor to direct attention to a specific point in the material. I find I get more quality work done in the shortest time with most students when we work online.
