This is part of the answer. It isn't just the volume (300,000 cubic meters per second / or almost 80 million gallons of water) and speed. Though that is part of it. The silt flow from the river can actually be seen for nearly 250 miles out into the ocean and almost 60 miles North to South. Ships have reported fresh water out into the ocean beyond the sight of the mouth of the river.
The other factor is that the river flows straight into the roiling Atlantic. The Atlantic, at this site, has enough wave and tidal energy to carry all the silt out to sea. Most places in the world where deltas occur are in very productive ocean and seas. Where the water is calmer and more conducive to growth and sea life.
