y = mx + b
m = the slope, change in y/change in x
b = y-intercept
y = x + 1
m = 1. We don't call me "1 David" but there is one of me.
b = 1
Place a point at (0,1). Since our slope is 1, it can be 1/1 or even 300/300, but let's stick with 1/1. This means we go up one (in a positive direction) and right one (also in a positive direction). Our next point should be at (1,2). Keep going.
You can also go the other direction, since -1/-1 = 1. Starting again at (0,1), go down 1 (in a negative direction) and left 1 (in a negative direction). Another point will be at (-1,0). Keep going.
