Academic Coach for Academic Success Across the Curriculum!
Hi there!
English is a difficult language even for native speakers, but is particularly challenging for speakers of other languages. I recommend the following: immerse yourself in English speaking environments, take personal risks and ask for feedback, watch English-only programming, and read - a lot! Even though your question addresses improving your speaking, you will find that by reading English, your English skills will improve across all domains (reading, writing, listening, and speaking). And most importantly, hard as it is, be a risk taker. It's okay to make mistakes - and most English-only speakers really respect the efforts of others to learn the language. Remember, the majority of Americans have language competency in only one language (English), so you are already ahead!
