1. The first step is to get rid of "s" in one of the equations, by replacing it with an expression for "s" from the other equation.
2. The second step is to solve the new version of the second equation for "b".
225 - 5 x b = 4 x b
(*) NOTE: It's important to check at the end that "b" is not equal to 0, otherwise what we just did is not legal
225 = (4 x b) + (5 x b)
Remember, 20=4x5, and 25=5x5, so 20/25 could be written as "(4x5)/(5x5)"
You can divide the top and the bottom of the fraction by the same number (5) and the fraction will remain the same ratio, so you get 4/5. The answer above ( b = 25 ) is correct. :-)
