Chengdu is one of the three most populated cities in Western China. Pollution is something you'd have to encounter each day. Many people there avoid the smog by using apps, wearing face masks, and installing air filters in their homes. It's also important to realize that there are many local dialects. People speak different variations of Chinese, which may make it more difficult to understand and interact with those around you.
Despite the air pollution and cultural differences, the students make the experience worthwhile. Teaching English is fulfilling because you work to empower students to become multilingual, which gives them an advantage in the global economy. You must evaluate what is most important to you, and if you feel this move would be a good fit for you.
