Romanticism challenged the grounded ideals gripped tightly during the Enlightenment period during the 18th to 19th century. Contemporary Art challenges not only ideals but how art is made in terms of types of mediums used. You can clearly see the parallels between the two. Except with Contemporary Art going a step further by stimulating how art is created. in addition, Romanticism took in idealism, equality, freedom, encouragement of justice, individuality, and subjectivity. Contemporary Art takes on these characteristics as well, especially in today's societal social climate.
