This problem is asking you to solve for both unknowns through substitution. To do so we need we need to use an equation. c will represent chairs and t will represent tables.

3c + 5t = 38

6c + 2t = 26

What you need to do is plug in different numbers and see which ones come out the same for both equations. For example if I did 3(3) + 5(3) = 38 that would not be correct because that would be 9 + 15 = 24. You need to keep plugging in numbers until it comes out to 38 and 26. Good luck, I hope that helps!
