German is said to be more difficult than English, and at first glance, I want to agree. However, having learned, used, and taught both languages my entire life, I feel that both languages are equally difficult, the only difference being that these two languages show their intricacies at different stages of learning them. While German is super hard from the start, English seems easy in the beginning. Conversely, once you're "over the hump" in German, acquiring a higher level is not so hard anymore, whereas English gets harder and harder as you advance to a higher level. Having said that, both languages pose a high level of difficulty on learners in terms of pronunciation making it almost impossible for speakers of certain languages to ever pronounce either language correctly.
