Well, the first step that should be done in analyzing the data that is given and making it simple. So in this case, it would be the amount that she made (6 and 1/2 dozen) and subtracting it from the amount that she sold (3 and 2/6 dozen). We know that we are subtracting it because of the last sentence which clarifies that it asks for the difference. Now that we figured out the crucial information, convert our units. We know that 12 equals a dozen so that allows us to easily solve the whole numbers by multiplying them by it. So we know that it is (72 and 1/2 of a dozen) - (36 and 2/6 of a dozen). Let's get the 1/2 of a dozen on the first number first. Let's just multiple 1/2 by 12/1 which gets us 12/2. 12/2 in simplified terms are 6 cookies. Now the equation would be (78 cookies) - (36 and 2/6 of a dozen). Let's do the same thing for this fraction. We can simplify it to ⅓ of a dozen. ⅓ times 12/1is 12/3 which gets us 4 cookies. The final step is subtracting. (78 cookies - (40 cookies) which gets us 38 cookies left. Thank you and please lave feedback.
