Perhaps the best way to write a character who speaks little English is to imagine what that interaction would be like in real life. Think of gestures and expressions which non-native speakers would use to try to express themselves. Think also of a small child, even a native speaker, with a limited vocabulary and limited ability to conjugate verbs. It is very common for non-native speakers to use verbs in the infinitive rather than conjugating them. Non-native speakers also tend to confuse the pronouns he/she and him/her. Good luck!
