Certainly the basic expressions of common courtesy are very important for ESL learners. "Please" and "thank you" are absolutely essential. Time of day expressions (good morning, etc) are also very important. "Have a nice (or good) day" is also an important phrase because it expresses a positive conclusion to an interaction. "Please speak slowly" and "Please repeat that" can be crucial in many settings. Generally speaking, native speakers will respond positively to those requests.
