This is a fantastic question! I would venture yes, you would. Although I would encourage you to expand your studies into other disciplines in order to get a greater understanding of movements in art and how they connect culturally.
For instance, you can read Mary Shelly's Frankensein, look at a landscape oil painting that captures the notion of the "Sublime" from the 1800s, then listen to a Beethoven symphony and you can absolutely find similar themes in play.
As long as you're making the connections I'd say you have a good shot of understanding movements or concepts across media. Best of luck in your studies!
