Realism is the rendering of what is seen by an artist. It relies on high technical drafting skills and percise color usage.
Cubism comes in two forms one is when an artist uses geometry to flatten a 3D object so all sides can be seen even though only the side faving the artist is visible. The other type of cubism is called synthetic cubism which gives the artist the freedom to aproximate how all sides of what they see is shown in the picture plane.Cubism is conceptual in nature because either form lets an artist engage the viewer in more than just a picture captured. Deeper meaning of wonder about time and space are a key function of cubism. It is known that Picasso and Braque were influenced by Einstien's Theory of Relativity when they painted the works dubbed cubist by an art critique.
