When solving a single logarithmic equation, it's best to change it to exponential form.

logarithmic form: y = log_bx

exponential form: b^y =x

If there is no base for the log it is understood as 10.

Using your example. y= logx is the same as y = log₁₀x but y = 10,

so 10 = log₁₀x. When you change it to exponential form you get 10¹⁰ = x.
