About Adrian

Greetings to you! I'm grateful that you came to me. It all started as me helping my peers or friends with their math work. It has been 8 years and counting since I started teaching mathematics at the high school level. I have taught and tutored several subjects including: algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and introductory statistics courses.

I have experience on all levels from elementary to adults. I know how to make the math simple, relevant, and applicable. It gives me joy to see someone's face light up and clarity comes to them when I show them the math. I love teaching math! Through this process I give students the prerequisites, provide explanations, show other resources, and assign practice problems. Mathematics is all around us, a universal language, let me lead you to exploring the beauty of mathematics.

As a math major, I have been exposed to the different levels of math. In algebra, I have the skill set to know what a student's weakness is. I took calculus in college and currently teach calculus with a 92% passing rate. I teach and tutor algebra and geometry at Georgia State University's upward bound program in the summer.

Contact me to set up an appointment. I will respond back within 24-hours. I look forward to assisting you with your math endeavors!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

Tutor my high school students in math concepts on the ACT. Also tutored a few students outside of my school for ACT prep.

Algebra 1

I currently teach math and algebra for the last 6 six years. I use different tools to teach the foundation of algebra.

Algebra 2

Taught an honors class for 2 years containing algebra 2 concepts. Taught 3 years in the summer program at Georgia State University algebra 2 to students in the STEM fields.

Basketball

I coached and assisted with church/high school league for 3 years. I played high school basketball for 4 years and was recruited by division II and division III schools. I went to two YBOA/AAU nationals and played against the top high school players in the country.

Calculus

Over 92% of my calculus students in school pass the class & show growth from the pre-test and post-test.

Geometry

Taught different parts of geometry in high school for 6 years. As a student in college, I took geometry and passed with an A & B average.

Microsoft Excel

I use Excel to collect data of students' scores in math class. I used Microsoft Excel in undergraduate and graduate school. Showed students how to calculate their final class average using excel as a project assignment. Most of the students mastered the basics.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I currently use Microsoft PowerPoint to present some presentations to my students. I used Microsoft PowerPoint in undergraduate and graduate school.

Microsoft Word

I currently use Microsoft Word. I used Microsoft Word all through undergraduate and graduate school.

Prealgebra

I taught algebra support classes in high school for two years.

Precalculus

Pre-calculus is one of my favorite subjects to tutor. The foundation of pre-calculus include strong algebra skills and the fundamental knowledge of trigonometric functions. I can help you understand and apply these concepts. I have taught a combination of these concepts to high school students for 6 years.

Probability

Probability is the percent or chance for an event to occur. I taught basic probability concepts in my introductory to statistics courses, advanced algebra high school class, and learned some in college.

Tennis

I currently coach tennis at the high school and have done so for three years now. I teach students the basics: foot work, form, backhand, forehand, volley and serving. I implement drills with single skills and combinations of multiple skills.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry involves some prerequisites of geometry knowledge. I can show you the background of geometry and how it relates to trigonometry. I love showing others where the unit circle comes from which is the fundamental concept of trigonometry. I teach trigonometry concepts currently at the high school level.

My son is rarely impressed... — As soon as the lesson was over, my son called to tell me that he FINALLY understood what had been happening around him in math. He has already scheduled a second session and sounds confident about passing his next test. I could hear the excitement in his voice.. Therefore I am pleased. You cannot out a price on your kid feeling good about math, understanding it, and knowing they CAN do it and ...
